Root Chakra — Muladhara
The Root Chakra serves as your foundation, connecting you to the Earth and providing stability for all other chakras. When balanced, it creates a sense of safety, security, and belonging in the physical world.
Muladhara means 'root support' in Sanskrit. It is the first of the seven main chakras and governs our most primal needs — survival, safety, and our sense of belonging in the physical world.

Musical Note — C (Do)
The Root Chakra is associated with the musical note C — the first note of the scale, the foundation upon which all other notes are built. Just as C anchors the scale, the Root anchors your energy body.
Note C (Do)
The lowest and most grounding note of the solfège scale. Found in drumming, bass tones, and earth-resonant music.
How to Use
Hum or tone the note C during meditation. Play instruments tuned to C. Listen to music rooted in bass and rhythm.

Sacred Sound — LAM
LAM is the bija (seed) mantra of the Root Chakra. Bija mantras are single-syllable sounds that carry the vibrational essence of each chakra. Chanting LAM activates and balances Muladhara.
How to Chant
Sit comfortably with feet on the floor. Take a deep breath in, and on the exhale, slowly chant 'LAAAMMM.' Feel the vibration in your lower body and base of your spine.
When to Use
Morning grounding practice, before meditation, during moments of anxiety or fear, or anytime you need to feel more rooted and present.

The Color Red — Symbolism & Meaning
Red is the color of life force, primal energy, and survival. It is the densest and slowest vibrating color in the visible spectrum — perfectly aligned with the Root Chakra's earthly, physical nature.
In Nature
Fire, blood, ripe fruit, autumn leaves, red clay earth, red rock formations
In the World
Stop signs (alerting survival instincts), red lights, emergency vehicles — red commands attention and signals the body to respond
In the Body
Red stimulates circulation, raises energy, and activates the adrenal glands — our fight-or-flight response
For Healing
Wear red clothing, use red crystals, surround yourself with red flowers or decor when you need grounding and vitality
